In 1890, a developer discovered sponges growing off the coast of Tarpon Springs. Soon, Greek sponge divers began immigrating to the area. The Greek community still thrives, and visitors still enjoy authentic Greek food and purchase sponges off the docks.

From Interstate 275 southbound, take State Road 60 across the Courtney Campbell causeway to U.S. 19. Go north on U.S. 19 about 12 miles to Tarpon Avenue and turn left. Go through downtown Tarpon Springs and turn right onto Alternate U.S. 19. Turn left onto Dodecanese Boulevard.
